Red Homes Celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

The start of June 2022 marked mass celebrations across the UK, as the nation marked an incredibly unique achievement: a Platinum Jubilee.

Red Homes Celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

Yes, Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her 70th anniversary of her accession to the throne in 1952. Of course, the entire country was given an extra Bank Holiday, in order to celebrate. There were concerts, street parties and plenty of fun had with families and friends, across the UK.

Here at Red Homes, we held our own parties and marked the Queen’s reign in a number of ways…

Red Rose

Red Rose was kept busy by the Platinum Jubilee. Farndon Village were hosting their own scarecrow competition, and Red Rose’s entry saw residents and staff come together to create their own scarecrow Queen!

Then, residents wrote a special card for Her Majesty, to celebrate her incredible achievement. They even asked her to save them a slice or two of cake!

Residents and staff worked together to hold their own Red Rose Jubilee party, with lovely food and drink on offer, as well as all of the coverage of the celebrations as they unfolded in London.

Red Roofs

At Red Roofs, the team went all out to ensure residents had an amazing Platinum Jubilee Bank Holiday Weekend. The care home was decked out in patriotic flags, murals of the Queen and cards that the residents had made. The finished look was a colourful celebration fit for…a Queen!

Of course, there was plenty of food, drink and tea consumed to mark the occasion, as well as a few special royal guests – as you can see from the pictures below. A lot of fun was had among residents and staff, with plenty of memories evoked among residents by the pictures of the Queen from across the years.

Red Court

Over at Red Court, it was time for cake! Residents celebrated with tea and scones and some special bakes from the staff. These colourful treats were decorated in red, white and blue swirls to mimic the Union Jack and had the date of the Jubilee emblazoned across them. As you can see from the pictures, the residents loved coming together to eat, drink and have fun across the Jubilee Weekend.
