Marking special occasions:

It is the little things that make such a difference. Sharing traditional holidays together help residents to build community spirit and connect with family and friends. From flipping delicious pancakes on Shrove Tuesday, donning red noses for Comic Relief or celebrating Chinese New Year and Valentine’s Day, we make sure that every resident feels included and valued by incorporating a variety of cultural and religious traditions into our holiday celebrations.

The activities create positive memories, new experiences and help unite residents to form strong friendships and bonds.

When it comes to celebrations, what bigger celebration is there than birthdays? Birthdays are a big part of life at Red Homes and enable us to share memories, build friendships and show our appreciation for one another. That is why every resident receives a cake, card, and gift from all of us.

It also allows residents to connect with each other and build friendships through shared memories and experiences.

Fun and exciting exercises:

Physical activity and mental stimulation are key components of a healthy lifestyle. That’s why we have a team of dedicated activities coordinators and staff who lead a variety of fun and engaging exercises and games to keep our residents active and entertained.

From armchair exercises that focus on stretching and strengthening the upper body to balloon tennis and other adapted sports, movement plays a huge part in helping to lift the mood at Red Homes.

Staying active, releases endorphins which raise feelings of well-being, while also strengthening muscles, core strength and balance.

It is why exercise is such an important part of our activities. So you may see us dancing in the lounge or playing table ping pong, doing gentle arm stretches or fairground games. Making the activities fun helps to keep everyone mobile without even knowing it.

Musical therapy sessions:

The power of song is so important, with music having such an uplifting effect on everyone it reaches. Whether it’s singing or simply listening to music, studies show a variety of physical and emotional benefits.

One of the key benefits is it can help to stimulate the brain and improve cognitive function. Music also helps to reduce stress and anxiety, which can be particularly beneficial for residents who may be dealing with health issues or other challenges.

Listening to songs from childhood or that evoke fond memories also helps individuals bond over shared interests and memories.

Encouraging outdoor trips:

Being able to get out and about, enjoy fresh air, and experience new environments can have a significant impact on overall well-being.

Trips outdoor provide a sense of enjoyment and fun. Visits to local pubs, cinemas or parks, offer a change of scenery and a chance to experience something new and exciting as well as a way to reminisce on past holidays or activities. Even weekly trips, weather dependent, into the garden offer a different perspective. It is a chance to hear the birds sing, see Spring flowers bloom and be outside in nature.
